Loan periods are determined both by borrower type and by the type of item.
General Items
Most borrowers have a three-week loan period for items in the general collection, which make up the majority of our circulating items (things you can checkout).
Faculty, staff, and graduate students have a longer loan periods to accommodate their research endeavors.
For details see p. 2 of the Library Services Guideline 84, "General Circulating Collection."
Reserve Items
Loan periods may vary from one hour to one semester for the library's reserve materials.
The Reserve Collection materials are specific items that are designated as having a different loan period. This collection includes course materials, such as textbooks, that professors have placed on reserve for their classes' use; technology items; marker kits; and study room keys.
You can view a list of our Technology Reserves here.
